Janis Torrence-Laughlin was a Muscatine County Supervisor from 1976 to 1982 and an Iowa State Representative affiliated with the Republican Party from 1983 to 1985. She was born Janis Irene Bein in rural Montpelier Township, Muscatine County, Iowa, to Raymond I. and Gladys Bohnsack Bein in 1926. She married John Torrence in 1945 but divorced in 1983. After suffering a mild stroke, she resigned from the Iowa legislature in 1985 and moved to Arizona. She married James Laughlin in 1986. ...
